We have collaborated with business support organisations throughout the borough to  offer an exciting week of events as part of the Mid and East Antrim Enterprise Week to coincide with Global Entrepreneurship Week 2017.

Networking for Business Growth - Traditional v Digital

Social Media has created an efficient and cost effective way for businesses to network online. Is there still a need for traditional face-to-face networking?

Daniel McGarry and Gerry Faloona, will explore the power of both traditional and digital networking. They will highlight the use of a range of traditional forms of networking such as Chambers of Commerce, as well as digital platforms such as Twitter, #Belfast Hour or #Food NI Hour to generate awareness of a business

Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their business and make new contacts in a comfortable environment with support from Carrickfergus Enterprise.

Tuesday 14 November

"Generation Innovation"

10am- 3pm

The Innovation Centre, ECOS, Ballymena

This event invites Year 13 pupils to attend a 4th Industrial Revolution Challenge around the question of how we will commute in 2030.

Students will engage in a knowledge exchange at the start of the session with an industry specialist posing the questions around transportation issues including electric, autonomous vehicles, fuel consumption and infrastructure.

The students will then work in groups with stimulus material to look at the challenges posed and start to ideate on a solution. Throughout the problem-solving teamwork session, students will have the opportunity to connect with knowledge pillars in this field.

This session delivered by Catalyst Inc. and University of Ulster will aim to spark creativity and curiosity as well as develop their problem thinking skills around 4th industrial revolution challenges.

Starting Your Own Business

12noon - 8pm

Willowbank Conference Centre, Willowbank Business Park, Larne

This event will encourage and inspire local people, including school pupils, to consider self- employment. Participants will have the opportunity to meet local entrepreneurs and small businesses located at LEDCOM, participate in workshops and information sessions and speak to LEDCOM Business Advisors.

Tuesday 14 November

Rural Youth Entrepreneurship (RYE) Challenge

9.30am - 4pm

Northern Regional College (Farm Lodge Building)

The inspired RYE challenge is looking for people with business ideas to participate in workshops focusing on business start-up. They will be helped to create a full Business Plan. 

This workshop organised by Northern Regional College, will be supported with RYE resources and a RYE online support platform full of audits, NI case studies, factsheets and a pitching portal. An international investor network has been established as part of the programme which will allow access to a range of potential investors and opportunities.

All participants will be entered into the NI Regional final. The winners of the overall Northern Ireland final will travel to Lapland to take part in the RYE Cool Awards in January 2018.

How to be Cyber Secure

8am – 9.30am

Ulster Bank, Wellington Street, Ballymena

This morning event is an opportunity for new and established businesses to find out more about cybersecurity. Ulster Bank are delighted to be hosting this awareness breakfast at their branch in Ballymena. Led by their fraud team, they will provide you with an awareness of phishing, smishing and vishing and provide you with all the right tools to keep you and your business safe.

Business Support & Funding Opportunities

The Braid, Ballymena

This lunchtime event is an opportunity for new and established businesses to find out more about the various business and funding supports available to them. 

A great chance to network with key organisations and initiatives offering business support such as Invest NI, InterTradeIreland, Michelin Development Fund and Mid and East Antrim Borough Council.

Thursday 16 November

Young Entrepreneurs - "Digital Makers" of the future

10am - 3pm

Carrickfergus Grammar School

The “Digital Makers” workshop will give up to 60 young people at Key Stage 3 level (12 – 14 years) an opportunity to engage in hands on coding activities within a business context.

Using Google App Inventor, Sentinus will help students understand the app building process and teach them basic coding skills to allow them to develop their own app.

Business Breakfast with Ballymena Chamber of Commerce, Ballymena BID& Danske Bank
