Carrickfergus Borough Council values your right to personal privacy. Sometimes it is necessary to collect information to enable us to fulfil our statutory obligations and to improve our services. However, we aim to be open about the reasons why we collect this information, and also about how we hold and use this.
At all times Carrickfergus Borough Council aims to comply with Data Protection Legislation and its principles, thus ensuring that any information collected is done so fairly and lawfully. We also aim to ensure that it is accurate, up to date, and that we do not hold it for longer that is necessary.
Every individual has the right to see information held about them (however there are some exemptions allowed for in the Data Protection Act 1998). If you wish to obtain a copy of any personal information held about yourself a small fee will be charged. You should put your request in writing and state clearly who you are. You should also give a description of the information of the information which you want a copy of. Alternatively, you can also make arrangements to view the information held.
