Freedom Of Information.

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 makes it easier for you to get information about us.

This law, which came into force on 1 January 2005, means that any person, at any location can ask for copies of any information we hold.

To obtain a copy of information held you should submit your request in writing, by letter or e mail stating clearly what information you want. You should provide your contact details to that we can reply to your request. Sometimes it might be necessary for us to contact you to ask you to be more specific about the information which you require.  

Responding to your request

Once we receive your request, we must reply in writing within 20 working days. This 20 days does not include the day we receive your request, or statutory or public holidays. In our reply we must confirm whether or not we hold the information requested. We then should provide you with the information or explain why it is not being provided. If the information is not provided under one of the exemptions we have to advise you that this is the case, and let you know which exemption has been applied. You will have the right to appeal any exemption which may be applied.

Where information cannot be sent to you electronically, and must be posted, a charge will be applied to cover photocopying, packaging and postage costs. However, before we release the information we will contact you to let you know what charge is being applied.

Public Information

We also make a significant amount of information available to the public as a matter of routine which means that you do not have to make a specific request for it. This information is listed in our Publication Scheme which is on our website.
