Health And Well Being
The Environmental Health section is involved in several schemes aimed at improving the health and well being of residents in the Borough.
Investing for Health is the strategy for improving public health in Northern Ireland and the Council is part of the Northern Investing for Health Partnership which is implementing the strategy in Carrickfergus. Working with other public sector partners such as the Northern Health and Social Care Trust and Northern Ireland Housing Executive a number of schemes aimed at improving the health and well being of residents in the council area have been introduced. These include: -
- Home Safety equipment - to provide home safety equipment to families with young children
- Small Steps to Healthier Choices - to reduce the problems of obesity fast food takeaways are being encouraged to made healthy changes to their menus
- Fuel Poverty - To help residents deal with high fuel costs the Council ihas introduced a home heating oil saving stamp scheme l
