BBC Normans Day
25 September 2010
As part of the BBC Norman Season the BBC, Carrickfergus Borough Council and the Northern Ireland Environment Agency are going to recreate the smells, sounds and excitement of our Norman heritage in Northern Ireland for one day only. EVENT: BBC Normans Day DATE: Saturday 25 September 2010 VENUE: Carrickfergus Castle and Castle Green TIME: 10.30 - 4PM ADMISSION: FREE
On the Saturday, September 25 Carrickfergus Castle and town centre will be alive with Norman walks, music, cookery and characters. Visitors can join in the fun from 10.30am for an amazing family day out Norman style, making candles, marvelling at the jousters, walking the Norman walks or eating from the conquerors' table. There will also be an opportunity to explore the ancient walls of Carrickfergus and enjoy BBC Norman resources and learn how to have fun with all the family - the "Norman" way.
BBC Radio Ulster's Saturday Magazine will be at the heart of the merriment with chat and music. Presenter John Toal will trade his microphone for a bow and arrow to hear the mysterious tales of the Norman knights on a treasure trail around the town's walls and will sample a feast fit for a king.
