Diamond Jubilee Celebrations in Carrickfergus

This year (2012) Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II becomes only the second Monarch in British history to celebrate 60 years on the throne.

In the history of Britain, the only other Monarch to achieve a reign of 60 years was Queen Victoria (1837-1901) who reigned as Queen of the UK and Ireland for a total of 63 years. The opportunity to witness and celebrate an occasion as unique as this can not be understated and plans are in place to mark the occasion across the world with a spectacular Diamond Jubilee celebration.

As well as sponsoring a number of community events and street parties, Carrickfergus Borough Council have a a full programme of events to mark this special occassion.


Diamond Jubilee Fireworks Display
Friday 1 June
Time: 10.40pm (weather dependent)
Venue: Edward Pier

Enjoy a fantastic fireworks display to celebrate the official start to the Diamond Jubilee celebrations across Carrickfergus Borough!

 

Carrickfergus' Big Jubilee Picnic
Sunday 3 June
Time: 12.30pm - 4pm
Venue: Shaftesbury Park, Joymount

Why not come along to Carrickfergus Borough Council's Big Jubilee Picnic in Shaftesbury Park in Carrickfergus and help celebrate the Diamond Jubilee with a host of family entertainment! Don't forget to bring your picnic and a blanket!

 

Beacons
Monday 4 June
Time: 10pm - 10.30pm
Venue: Blackhead Car Park, Whitehead, Fisherman's Quay, Carrickfergus and Knockagh Monument, Greenisland (the latter organised by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors)

Featuring accompanying entertainment in Carrickfergus and Whitehead.

 

Diamond Jubilee Tea Dance - Friday 8 June 2012

Carrickfergus Town Hall

Time-2-5pm

A special themed tea dance to mark the Diamond Jubilee. Come along and enjoy an afternoon of dancing and with cream tea refreshments.

As always entrance is free.

 

Opening of Jubilee Wood

Venue: Whitehead

Come and celebrate the official opening of the only Diamond Jubilee Wood in Northern Ireland! One of six official woods across the UK, the 60 acre woodland is located near Bentra Golf Course to the north of Whitehead. Full details to follow...
