Carrickfergus Armed Forces Day
In 1913 the Royal Flying Corps sent the first military aviators across the Irish Sea to support Army exercises in Limerick. To mark this centenary, the Royal Air Force will send some of its finest pilots and best aircraft to take part in Armed Forces Day at Carrickfergus on Saturday 22 June 2013. The world famous Red Arrows open the event at 11 am with a display over Belfast Lough and they will draw crowds from across Ireland to witness their breathtaking aerobatics. There will also be a flying display from an RAF Typhoon which is guaranteed to deliver the loudest of public performances. Military aviators will be well represented on the ground with static displays, aircraft cockpits, simulators and helicopters. This is a unique opportunity to engage with the RAF and climb aboard a Chinook! Full details
