Sports Development

The Sports Development team at Carrickfergus Borough Council strives to implement an ethos of excellence in sport at all levels. It achieves this by providing everyone with the opportunity to take part in sport at their chosen level, whether player, coach or volunteer. Our Sports Development team may be able to help you with practical advice and assistance in the following areas:

  • where to play a particular sport in the Borough;
  • contacts for local sports clubs;
  • advice on funding opportunities for sports clubs and sports people;
  • how to start a new sports club;
  • advice on sport club development, marketing, starting new sections etc.;
  • development, advice and opportunities for sports coaches and volunteers; and,
  • the Coach Education Programme.
