    On 1 April 2015 Carrickfergus, Ballymena and Larne Borough Councils will become Mid & East Antrim Borough Council and will officially open the new Grants Support Scheme for applications.  The aim of the scheme will be to provide financial support through various grants categories for organisers of events as well as community groups, sports clubs, arts groups in the Borough undertaking projects which are of benefit to all of the citizens of Mid & East Antrim Borough Council.     Today we celebrate the birthday of one of Carrickfergus’ most famous figures- 7th President of the United States of America Andrew Jackson (1767-1845) – Jackson’s family lived in Boneybefore, part of Carrickfergus Borough, before they emigrated to Carolina where Andrew was born.     Buzzing about Biodiversity

    The launch of the Mid and East Antrim Biodiversity Action Plan (LBAP) was held in the grounds of Silverstream Primary School, Greenisland, on Tuesday 3rd March 2015. Guests included members of Carrickfergus Council, headmasters of local schools and members of local community groups. Primary 5, 6 and 7 pupils joined in the fun and planted 100 trees and built insect boxes to mark the occasion. Full story
