    Playday in Carrickfergus

    Playday is the national day for play and takes place on Wednesday 6th August from 11am to 3pm in the Marine Gardens in Carrickfergus. To celebrate Playday, children, young people and communities get out and play at hundreds of community events across the UK. As well as a celebration, Playday is an opportunity to campaign on issues affecting children's play. Full story

    With the onset of good weather, there has been a big increase in members of the public using the sea and the shore for recreational activities including fishing, boating, and for some hardy souls, swimming or simply building sandcastles. The sea can be a great playground and with some sensible precautions it should also be safe as well as fun.  Unfortunately accidents do happen and when they do, it is essential that lifesaving equipment is readily available.
