    Ash Dieback at Bashfordsland Wood

    On Friday (10th May 2013) the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) served a Notice on Carrickfergus Borough Council regarding ash dieback at Bashfordsland Wood. Measures within the Notice include the removal of approximately 1000 ash trees planted from 2007. All other tree species are unaffected. Full story

    Reval 2015 NI is the process by which Land & Property Services (LPS) will revalue all non-domestic properties in Northern Ireland for rates.     Completion of £2.5 million Carrickfergus Town Centre public realm scheme

    A joint ministerial visit today by the Social Development Minister, Nelson McCausland, and the Regional Development Minister, Danny Kennedy, marked the completion of a major upgrade in Carrickfergus Town centre. The public realms scheme works commenced just over a year ago in February 2012 and incorporated some additional works done by utility companies, resulting in overall improvements to the appearance of the town centre worth some £2million. DARD will need your name, address including postcode, telephone number, business ID and herd / flock number. The Department also need some details about your current situation:. Number and type of stock affected. Have you feed and can’t get it moved to the stock? Are you running out of feed?     Ash Dieback at Carrickfergus Borough Council Parks

    The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DARD) has advised Carrickfergus Borough Council that two of its parks have been affected by the fungus disease Chalara fraxinea, which is commonly referred to as Ash Dieback. The two sites are Diamond Jubilee Wood in Whitehead and Bashfordsland Wood in Carrickfergus. Full story

    The Tenancy Deposit Schemes Regulations (Northern Ireland) Order 2012 were approved by the Assembly in September last year and came into operation on 1 November 2012. Tenancy deposits schemes will be operational as and from the 1 April 2013 and any deposit taken on or after that date must be protected in an approved scheme. Full story

    Excitement is building ahead of this Saturday’s two Co Antrim Milk Cup games taking place at Greenisland Football Club. Co Antrim will play Liverpool in the Junior Section at 3pm and Benfica will play Co Antrim in the Premier Section at 5pm. Tickets are £6 (£4 concession).     Swimming Lessons open for enrolment

    Open enrolment for the next session of children's swimming lessons will take place on Saturday 16th April from 8am. Amphitheatre prides itself as providing the highest standard of children's swimming lessons following the ASA National Plan. Classes are booked as a 10 week session and are held throughout the week at various times operating through from level 1 to level 9. Each block of sessions are priced at £50 per child and include 10 free swimming sessions for the child to gain extra practice, valid for the duration of the swimming sessions. Full story

This year’s theme, Break free, we can help, acknowledges that No Smoking Day is the time for smokers to break free from their smoking habit and escape their chains of addiction.
