    BraveheartsNI, a charity for teenagers and young adults with congenital heart disease, is set for a hearty boost.

    The Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Borough, Councillor Audrey Wales MBE, who earlier this year made it her chosen charity, has been on the road for this worthy cause. Cllr Wales was in all the Council’s offices today to support all the staff who ‘paid up’ to enjoy a holiday weekend dress-down day.

  • ​ Flag hoisting to say ‘thank you seafarers’ for Merchant Navy Day

    Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, the Port of Larne and P&O Ferries will raise the Red Ensign to raise awareness of the UK’s ongoing dependence on Merchant Navy seafarers on Friday 02 September.

    A hoisting ceremony, will take place at the Port of Larne at 10am involving representation from the three host organisations and invited guests. Members of the public are also very welcome to attend.

    Little Lily and Ollie Calderwood didn’t need to share Councillor Audrey Wales’ umbrella when she visited the Biodiversity Summer School event at Ecos, Ballymena.

    The unseasonable rain was no problem to the Clough siblings who were pleased to try out their very own tepee – made entirely from materials foraged from the Ecos parklands – during the visit by the Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council.

    ​The deadline is looming for entries to Mid and East Antrim Borough In Bloom’s Tallest Sunflower Competition.

    The Mayor, Councillor Audrey Wales MBE, is asking young gardening enthusiasts who have not filled in their entry form to do so before 1 September, when entries close.

This is the 14th year of the awards which are organised annually by Ballymena Borough Chamber of Commerce and Industry.   • Summer Fair set to bloom in Larne’s Market Yard

    Larne’s Market Yard will burst into bloom at the weekend as Mid and East Antrim Borough’s Flower Show and Summer Fair takes place.
