Local Businesses Get a Little Taste of China
20 April 2012
Carrickfergus Borough Council, in association with the Confucius Institute of the University of Ulster hosted an event on Wednesday evening to give local businesses a better insight of how to do business in China.
China is the world's fastest growing economy. With a population of 1.3 billion people, it is also the largest country. This combination of growth and population size has made China the second largest economy in the world. China represents a huge opportunity for trade. Increasingly, SMEs are prospering by trading a wide and varied range of products with China, and the Chinese market is no longer the domain just of large multi-national companies.
At the event Professor Xuexian Wu of Shenzhen South University of Science and Technology outlined how the Chinese economy works, and how important it is to form and maintain business relationships in order to successfully conduct business in China. Prof. Cathal M. Brugha Director at The Centre for Business Analytics also presented on the importance of understanding Chinese cultural differences.
The event ended with traditional dance and musical performances.
