Schedule of Events Available For Armed Forces Day

The full schedule of events for Northern Ireland's flagship Armed Forces Day in Carrickfergus has now been released!
Carrickfergus, with its proud military and garrison past, is the natural setting to celebrate Armed Forces Day. The town has once again secured flagship status for the event in Northern Ireland and following on from it’s previous success, this years event on 30 June is set to be even bigger and better than before.
The Ministry of Defence and Carrickfergus Borough Council, along with a number of other partners are planning a fantastic family day out to celebrate the forces, past present and future.
It has recently been confirmed that the tunic worn by Duke of Cambridge on his wedding rehersal will be on display on the day in Carrickfergus Museum & Civic Centre- Cadet Sgt Sam Maybin admires the dashing outfit at the launch earlier this week in the image (above right)
Amongst all the things to see and do, there will be a Tornado & helicopter flypast, the parade, abseiling displays, visiting naval vessels, the Royal Marine Band. You can also immerse yourself in the cultural heritage with historical re-enactment and the Royal Marine ‘Beating of the Retreat’ and learn more about the history of the Royal Irish Regiment with the ‘Harp & Crown’ exhibition. Take the opportunity to explore the town with a themed treasure trail as well as walking tours around the town walls with an expert guide. And of course for the children there will be a mobile cinema, arts and crafts and much more!
The event will run from 12noon-5.30pm and this year will the entertainment zones will stretch from the Harbour and Harbour car park, Castle Green and Carrickfergus Castle to the Museum & Civic Centre and Shaftsbury Park. Come down and enjoy a fantastic family day out in Carrickfergus in support of our Armed Forces!
