Civic Leadership

“A Council shall make arrangements for continuous improvement in the way in which its functions are exercised, having regard to a combination of economy, efficiency and effectiveness”.
Strong civic leadership and a firm commitment to the delivery of public services are the lynch pins that bind Carrickfergus Borough Council together and that drives it forward to meet the opportunities and challenges of the future.  The Council has a clear vision for the future of the region, as set out within its Corporate Plan.  This Plan integrates four key themes that are crucial to the long term development and well being of the Borough and its residents.  These are:

  • Citizenship – building on the civic pride that we enjoy within the Borough
  • Social Progress – seeking to promote co-operation between Council and those involved in community activities
  • Economy – addressing the needs of our business community
  • Environment – ensuring that we all enjoy the benefits of a clean, healthy lifestyle.

The Council strongly believes that it should be open, transparent and accountable to the public at all times. To this end, it is constantly seeking to improve delivery by offering faster, more streamlined and cost-effective services to the public it serves.
