COUNCIL RATES 2008/09
Carrickfergus Borough Council met on Wednesday 13th February 20 to set its budget for the next 12 months (1 April 2008 to 31 March 2009).
The Domestic rate will rise to 0.3195 (2007/08 0.2986) an increase of 6.99%.
The Council was presented with certain unavoidable cost increases particularly in regard to landfill tax and waste recycling. The budget also takes account of the rising energy costs and payroll/pension costs.
The Council has agreed to release £200,000 from its reserves to reduce the impact of these cost increases.
The plans for the year ahead will see greater resources applied to community services, projects to boost Tourism, leisure facilities and economic development.
The Council remains committed to providing a high quality service within a value for money framework. |
