Potentially Contaminated Land Info for Developers

Northern Group Systems, in association with Carrickfergus Borough Council, has produced guidance to assist in the preparation and review of land contamination reports, required as part of the planning application process. The document entitled “GUIDANCE ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF POTENTIALLY CONTAMINATED LAND” is available for download from the Council’s website.
The purpose of this document is to provide guidance for those parties conducting the desk study, site investigation, remediation, validation activities and writing technical reports in order that all potential unacceptable risks to human health are addressed.

Work has begun to identify potentially contaminated sites within the Borough of Carrickfergus and the map below indicates areas where it is likely that a contaminated land assessment will, at present, be request should development proposals come forward. Work on this is issue is by no means complete, so the map should not be regarded as definitive.
