Community Safety Partnership (CSP)
Introduction
Carrickfergus Community Safety Partnership (CSP) was launched in August 2003 and currently has two working tiers:
The key theme of the CSP is to devise local strategies to tackle local problems. This involves working to involve the public, voluntary, private and community sectors at local level.
Strategic Tier
The Strategic Tier is responsible for discharging the strategic functions of approval, accountability and leadership for the CSP.
Operational Tier
The Operational Tier is the core of the CSP. It includes individuals drawn from local service delivery organisations, both statutory and voluntary, at a level capable of committing their organisation to action.
Community Safety Audit - Background Information
Carrickfergus Community Safety Partnership has recently undertaken a Community Safety Audit for the area. The purpose of the Audit is to help set strategic priorities and will assess the extent of the problem of crime and disorder in this area.

RadioLink: this project aims to reduce the levels of business crime and anti-social behaviour in Carrickfergus Town Centre through the introduction of a RadioLink scheme and anti forgery devices for businesses.
Personal Safety Alarms: Carrickfergus Community Safety Partnership and Strengthening Carrickfergus supported by the Police Service of Northern Ireland, Carrickfergus DCU have distributed 1000 personal alarms to senior citizens in the Borough as part of a local community safety initiative.

Carrickfergus District Policing Partnership (DPP)
(Due to the sensitive nature of the content, I have left this copy unchanged. Alan M)
Carrickfergus District Policing Partnership are holding a series of meetings in public throughout Carrickfergus Borough Council Area to help in identifying priorities for the Police in developing Policing plans for our area. These events give you an opportunity to observe the Partnership at work, and to raise questions on any aspect of Policing in your Community with the District Commander and his team.
While the Partnership has a series of statutory functions laid down in the Police Act 2000, we believe that the core function of this Partnership is ensure that the people of this Borough receive the Police service that they want and need. To that end, we will consult with and engage with any group or individual who is committed to improving Policing in the Borough, and who will work with the PSNI and this Partnership to achieve that aim.
We will monitor Police performance on a regular basis and work with the Police to establish meaningful targets for improvement.
We will compliment the Police when they achieve or exceed these targets
We will ask why when they do not achieve the agreed Targets
Above all we will represent the views of the people of the Borough on Policing issues and ensure that these are put forward in a constructive manner to assist the PSNI in their duties
THE NEXT MEETING IN PUBLIC OF THE PARTNERSHIP WILL BE HELD ON THURSDAY 8th June 2006 in St. Colman's Church of Ireland Church Hall, Larne Road Carrickfergus at 7.00pm
The new DCU Commander, Chief Inspector Ruth McCune will be delivering the annual performance report for the DCU, and questions from the public are welcome. To receive a detailed response, please submit your question in writing to the DPP manager at the Council office, eight working days in advance of the meeting. Questions will be accepted on the night however a full response may not be available.
The Dates for future DPP Public Meetings are outlined below. These dates may change due to factors beyond our control, and venues will be confirmed closer to the dates themselves.
Full details will be available on this website two weeks before the events and will be published in the local press.

16/11/06
21/2/07
7/6/07.
The District Policing Partnerships were 're-constituted' in December 2005 with independent members selected as a result of an open competition held earlier that year. There will continue to be seven independent members and eight Councillors, however in a significant change to previous arrangements, the independent members elect the vice - chair from among themselves. Previously, both Chair and vice-chair were required to be Councilors under the legislation that established DPPs, and this move may increase the sense of community participation and ownership of the work of the DPPs
